Úrsula Iguarán – WP Prompt

Daily writing prompt
If you could be a character from a book or film, who would you be? Why?

Úrsula Iguarán, matriarch of Buendía family from the novel, “One Hundred Years of Solitude”, by Gabriel García Márquez, is a remarkable character, because of her agility to navigate and survive through numerous challenges in life with remarkable ingenuity and equanimity.

Nothing fazed her, be it the prosperity of life or its penury, she was always grounded and embraced life as it came with all its ebb and flow without judgement with the magnanimity and the nurturing protection of a mother hen.

Her survival instincts were so strong, that even when she was going blind, she found a way to conceal it and still stay relevant to the family.

To me, she encompasses the definition of what a woman should be. Also, it helps that I know few Úrsula Iguarán in my lifetime among friends and family.
