She flew away from all that she knew;
She ran far and wide
Frantically querying about a young maiden
With the most melancholy of face,
The one who could not smile, nor utter a single word.
When humans would not help,
She implored the Sun, pleaded with the Wind
Besought the elements,
That made up the universe –
All, to no avail.
There was no one to help her
There was no way to ease the pangs of her burdened heart.
Unable to return to where she called home,
She ran away from all things accustomed
Away from civilization,
Until she reached the deepest of valleys,
From where rose tall, slender cluster of hills
Atop which lived the most curious creatures,
That gathered once every month
To celebrate the rise of the full moon
In all its splendid magnificence.
